2D Adventure Demo
A game (alpha tech demo) heavily inspired by Super Metroid specifically. This was a school project so it's not as polished as I'd like it to be whatsoever.
There are three hidden expansions to get, and one hidden powerup (Bombs, but they don't count towards item percentage. You do need them for 100% items though.)
Doors can be opened when shot. Red doors take 5 missiles to open. Enemies can drop missile refills.
I would have liked to expand the area a bit more to make more use of the abilities, and maybe a boss and main menu. So, there's not much to explore at this point.
Controls
To save your game, stand in the save station and press Down.
Walljumping is not fully required but it does make navigation easier. To perform a walljump, place yourself next to a wall or cliff's edge while spinjumping. Then, move away from the wall and press Jump. Walljumping follows Super/Zero Mission rules, which means you can move freely immediately after walljumping (as opposed to how it works in Fusion).
- WASD/arrow keys/d-pad
- Move left/right
- Aim up, down, or diagonally
- Can only aim straight down while midair
- There will be buttons/keys to aim diagonally eventually..
- Pressing down while standing crouches (no sprite for this yet), pressing down while crouched morphs you into a ball if you have the ability to do so
- Fire weapon/place bomb - Right mouse button, square, X
- Jump - Left mouse button, space, cross, A
- Run - Left shift, L1, LB
- Switch Weapons (if available) - Q or E, L2 or R2, LB or RB (simultaneous presses will cancel your weapon back to the beam)
- Delete save file (no confirmation!): [
Issues
- No sprites for crouching or running. None for aiming, either.
- Rarely, input won't work after the game starts.
- Bombs won't damage enemies if they're overlapping (this is because the rays from the bomb are originating from the outer extents, not inside)
